Boaters: 3 good reasons to take an interest in LibertyPass by Nauticoncept

Launched in May 2020, the success of Liberty Pass is colossal, with over 40 boats already available in France. It's only natural that with LibertyPass, 4 days of seasonal rental is equivalent to 1 year's use of a boat, with no additional costs. Go for it! To find out more about Liberty Pass by Nauticoncept, read on...

This summer, you'll want to take to the open seas even more

Covid has left the French weary, tired, stressed and even depressed. Since the introduction of the first containment measures in March 2020, the French population has been forced to change its habits. Anxiety, sleep disorders, altered well-being - the psychological impact of confinement has scientists worried. The Christmas vacations have been seriously compromised, and the winter vacations are uncertain. The massive vaccination campaign is not expected before April, and international travel will still be complicated in the summer of 2021. It's a safe bet that, like next summer, France's beaches will be crowded with the predictable return of European tourists.

So if you've got a boat, you're all set! The open sea, picnics, aperitifs, early-morning fishing and water-skiing are all yours, but if you don't have one, the crowded beach, overflowing garbage cans and greasy paper are all yours.

This summer, there will be fewer boats...

You're thinking rental? After all, you're right. You don't necessarily use a boat every day, even on vacation. Besides, a boat is awfully expensive: acquisition costs, maintenance, port fees and taxes, at the end of the year the bill's pretty hefty.

The Liberty Pass is also an opportunity to try out a boat before you buy...

This summer, everyone will want to set sail

But just like last year, everyone will want to see the coast from the sea, to be away from the crowds, and boats for hire are likely to become a rare "commodity". Especially on those days when you want to get out to sea, i.e. on a windless, sea-free day when the sky is perfectly blue. In short, the day when everyone wants to sail. And renting a boat to have an aperitif and watch the sunset is a bit expensive. At 500 euros/day, that's an expensive aperitif. Especially as you'll probably have to return the boat at closing time. In short, it's all a bit lacking in spontaneity and simplicity.

Because of Covid, there will be fewer boats, and shipyards have been affected.
In addition, boatyards have been hard hit by the crisis, with shipyards shutting down during containment, and there will be a shortfall of 6,000 boats to renew the fleet in 2021.

" We plan to have 200 boats accessible on LibertyPass by April 2021 "

Platforms take prohibitive commissions
Last but not least, you're thinking of collaborative platforms. These are often private owners who rent out their boats. And the day the weather is fine on August 13, the owner will be just as keen to get out to sea as you are, and won't necessarily be very inclined to rent out his boat. When boat charters or charter companies put their boats up for rent on these sites, they pay substantial commissions, which they will be very tempted to pass on to you, especially during periods of peak influence.

LibertyPass by Nauticoncept is 100% use, without the inconvenience of ownership.

NautiConcept, a French start-up founded in 2016, has designed LibertyPass, the digital solution that allows those who want to sail freely without constraints.

The concept

As a club member, you pay an annual fee. This is set jointly by NautiConcept and LibertyPass partner dealers. The dealer can adjust the price according to criteria such as home port, boat model, etc. The membership fee gives you unlimited use of a fleet of boats, all year round, with no time or duration restrictions. " Rates generally start at around 150 euros a month for a 650 day boat," explains Romuald Poirot, co-founder of NautiConcept.

How does it work?

Everything is digitized from a webapp. You choose a Liberty Pass partner dealership based on your cruising area. You deposit a deposit once a year, pay a monthly fee, and then you're in business. You reserve your boat from the application, and the boat is yours on the day you choose. You show up at the harbor, pick up the keys and check in from the app. Your sailing time is unlimited. In the evening, you bring your boat back to port. Check out on the app. Put your keys back in the dealer's box, and you can start again the next day.

I don't need a boat all year round, is Liberty Pass right for me?

A full-season rental of a 550 open boat costs around 400-500 euros per day, while the annual fee for the same range from one of our approved partners is 1800 euros per year. 4 days' rental (with no guarantee of availability) = 1 year's use! It's easy to do the math. Jump at the chance.
